A Walk to Emmaus Information:

The Gospel of Luke tells the story of two who were walking along the road between Jerusalem and Emmaus. During their journey they were joined by the risen Christ, whom they didn't recognize. As they shared their deepest thoughts and concerns, Christ explained to them the scriptures. Their hearts were on fire as they listened to him. They invited him into their home for a meal. It wasn't until he broke the bread and blessed it that their eyes were opened and they recognized him.

The above story provides the basis for Emmaus, an Upper Room ministry designed to call forth and renew Christian discipleship. The "Walk to Emmaus" is an ecumenical, inter-denominational, spiritual renewal event, planned to strengthen leadership within the local church.

the "Walk to Emmaus" is a 72-hour personal encounter with Christ - looking at Christianity as a lifestyle. These three busy structured, enjoyable days begin on Thursday evening and end on Sunday evening. You'll meet other pilgrims as they join Christ on their walk, and will live and study together with singing, prayer, worship, and discussion. Discussion centers around 15 talks givne by laity and clergy.

These talks present the theme of God's grace, and how grace comes alive in the Christian community and expresses itself in the world. You will also discover how grace is real in your life, and how you can live a life of grace, bringing grace to others. You will have an opportunity to participate in the daily celebration of Holy Communion, and to begin to understand more fully the presence of Christ in the body of believers.

The objective of Emmaus is to inspire, challenge, and equip local church members for Christian action. So, who should go? Those who:
